Peter Giacone is a Managing Director and Global Head of the Insurance Ratings team at Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA), where he performs credit and financial analysis for the company’s rating process. In addition to insurance and financial guaranty, Peter also supports KBRA’s investment fund and public finance analytical teams.
Prior to joining KBRA, Peter spent six years as chief financial officer at the Liquidation Bureau within the New York State Department of Financial Services. Over the span of his 30-year career in financial services, Peter has worked extensively in analytical roles involving risk management, capital markets, and financial reporting at numerous companies including Morgan Stanley, MetLife, and XL Capital.
Peter earned a B.S.B.A. in accounting from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and an MBA in finance from the New York University Stern School of Business.

Joe Guardo is Executive Vice President and head of OdysseyRe’s U.S. Property, Marine and Aerospace treaty business units. He joined OdysseyRe in 1996 and has more than 25 years of experience managing the underwriting of property and casualty and specialty lines in the U.S. and Canada. His extensive knowledge of property lines covers not only standard pro rata and excess of loss contracts, but also retrocessional protections ranging from ILW’s to cat bonds. He also has expertise in technical lines including onshore and offshore energy exposures, and in general aviation.
Joe is currently leading an in-house IT initiative to build a reinsurance processing system and underwriting platform from scratch. He also serves on Odyssey Group’s Innovation Working Group.
Prior to OdysseyRe, Joe served as an AVP at Transatlantic Reinsurance Company. He began his career at Constitution Re and holds a B.A. in Economics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.

Ken Kim joined TigerRisk in 2015 and is based in their New York office. He works closely with clients as an account executive and broker team leader in both property and casualty treaty business. He also works with both new and prospective clients on product development and is a member of TigerRisk’s Casualty Specialty team.
Prior to TigerRisk, Ken worked at Guy Carpenter as a treaty broker for 13 years. While at Guy Carpenter, he worked with a diverse group of clients and prospects to help them grow in new products, as well as acting as an account executive and lead placing broker on various reinsurance treaties. Ken has expertise in a wide range of products including property, standard casualty lines, specialty casualty, workers compensation, professional liability, and other specialty lines.
Prior to Guy Carpenter, Ken worked at Aon Re for 3 years. While at Aon Re, he worked closely with the actuarial and catastrophe modeling team until mid-2000 when he transitioned to work on treaty reinsurance placements.
Ken graduated from the University of Chicago in 1999 while double majoring in Chemistry and Economics. He holds professional designations of RPLU, CPCU and ARe.

Philipp Kusche joined TigerRisk Partners in April 2016 as Partner and Global Head of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) and Capital Solutions. He has been a leading figure in the ILS sector for well over 15 years.
Tiger is a leading advisor on ILS structures, specifically having played a lead role in many of the sidecar structures developed over recent years.
Prior to joining Tiger, Philipp spent 14 years at Swiss Re, where he most recently was the Head of their ILS Structuring and Origination team in New York, responsible for and instrumental in creating and executing billions of dollars’ worth of CAT bonds, sidecars, contingent capital structures, and other alternative capital products for clients globally.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Bauhaus University in Germany and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute in Zurich (ETH). His Master’s Thesis, supported by Credit Suisse, was on public-private partnerships and their potential in Switzerland.

Bruce is the co-founder of Heritage Insurance and has led the company from a start-up Florida insurer to a Super Regional Insurer with over $1 billion of in-force premium in 16 states. He is well known for his leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and brings creativity and out-of-the-box thinking into making Heritage a best of breed company. He has led Heritage to profitability every year since inception while managing eight hurricanes, several tropical storms, and the challenges related to fraud and AOB in Florida. Prior to Heritage, Mr. Lucas was co-founder and CEO of Infinity Investment Funds and an attorney with Weil, Gotshal & Manges where he represented large institutional clients such as Enron and GE. Mr. Lucas graduated cum laude from Indiana University Law School with a B.A. and J.D., and was a Sigmund J. Beck Scholar. Mr. Lucas is most passionate about education based charities like the Pinellas Education Foundation and Step Up for Students as he feels education provided him with the opportunity to succeed and has been a major key to his success. Outside of the office, Mr. Lucas enjoys exercising, golf, and travel.

Frank co-founded Nephila Capital. Today he is Co-CEO and President of Nephila Holdings and a Director of Nephila Capital. His main focus is on risk management and the firm’s strategy. Frank has a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt and an MBA in Finance from the Owen Graduate School of Management. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.

Michael Millette is a Founder and Managing Partner of Hudson Structured, an alternative asset manager for reinsurance and transportation linked assets based in Connecticut and Bermuda.
Mr. Millette was at Goldman Sachs from 1994 to 2015. He was elected a Partner in 2006 and held a number of positions over the course of a 21-year career at the firm. Most recently, Mr. Millette was the Global Head of Structured Finance, Co-Head of the Structured Finance Capital Committee, and President of the Goldman Sachs Mortgage Corporation. Mr. Millette was the founding team member of both the Re/insurance structured finance and principal businesses. He was a team leader or key team member for over 150 transactions in the sector. He led distribution for the first 144A catastrophe bond in 1996. He also led teams that developed Goldman’s current businesses in Transport Finance, Intellectual Property Structured Finance, Private Placements and Project Finance, and spearheaded the development of the Principal Funding business in investment banking. He led the Structured Finance Capital Committee and sector teams in the rebuilding of the GS mortgage and consumer finance businesses following the financial crisis. He was a Member of the Bank Capital Committee, as well as the Client & Business Standards Committee for Investment Banking.
Mr. Millette began his career as an Analyst at Citibank and also previously worked as a Portfolio Manager at John Hancock Financial.
He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in History, Cum Laude, and also holds a Masters in Finance from Boston College, Carroll Graduate School of Management. Mr. Millette became a CFA in 1994.

Ian Newman is a partner and part of the team that transferred from Arthur J. Gallagher to Capsicum Re in October 2014. He runs the specialty unit which focusses on a number of diverse classes with Cyber becoming the dominant part of the portfolio. Ian is now looking to grow the cyber team considerably over the coming 12 months in order to capitalise on this opportunity in the market and further their positon as the leading Cyber Reinsurance team. Ian was part of the Execution Re team that completed an MBO in December 2012, in conjunction with Arthur J. Gallagher helping to create its treaty platform AJG Re. Ian was named ‘young broker of the year’ at the Insider Honours Awards in 2014

Chris Parry is responsible for structuring and managing RenaissanceRe's catastrophe joint ventures, including DaVinci, Upsilon, Vermeer, Top Layer and the Medici Fund. He also leads investor relations and capital raising for the Ventures function. Prior to joining RenaissanceRe in 2016, Mr. Parry was head of the International Capital Markets team at Aon Securities with a specific focus on insurance linked securities. Mr. Parry led several successful International cat bond and sidecar transactions. Prior to this, Mr. Parry gained 10 years of experience working with Dresdner Kleinwort Investment Bank as a structurer on the Alternative Risk Transfer desk and at Citigroup in London. Mr. Parry is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a BSc degree in Management Science from the University of Warwick.

Anthony Rettino serves as Founding Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager for Elementum Advisors, LLC and also serves as Director and CEO of Elementum (Bermuda) Ltd. Tony has managed a variety of reinsurance and risk-linked investment strategies since 1997. Prior to Elementum, he co-managed the reinsurance and risk-linked investments team at Stark Investments from September 2005 through November 2009. Tony earned a BBA in Accountancy with high honors from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA in Finance and Statistics with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive status). Other career highlights:
- 2011: Awarded “Contributor of the Year” award by Trading Risk magazine
- 1/2002 – 8/2005: Managing Director of Cochran, Caronia Securities LLC; jointly responsible for the firm’s asset management activities
- 1/1997 – 12/2001: Managing Director and head of Aon Capital Markets’ US-based operations
- 6/1993 – 12/1996: Founded and led Aon’s Financial Risk Management group; the group’s responsibilities included RLI, asset/liability management, and hedging of investment portfolios

Paul Schultz serves as CEO of Aon Securities, responsible for providing investment banking products and services to Aon’s clients on a global basis. Paul specializes in providing clients with strategic advice and access to capital markets.
Paul began his career in banking in 1986 and spent 14 years at JP Morgan (its predecessor banks), specializing in the Insurance Practice from 1989. Since joining Aon in 2000, Paul has advised Aon plc on issuing the first ever securitization of private equity limited partnerships and advised clients on M&A, starting new companies, issuing senior and subordinated debt, issuing equity and raising alternative capital via the issuance of catastrophe bonds, sidecars and other collateralized structures and derivatives thereof.
Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University. Paul also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Kellogg School of Management. Additionally, Paul is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Sharry serves as Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer for the Reinsurance Division and is the Head of US Property Facultative Reinsurance. Sharry has held numerous roles at Everest over the past nine years, including Senior Vice President of Property and Specialty and has headed our Weather Reinsurance Trading Division from 2011 to mid-2020.
Since joining Everest from Munich Re in 2011, Sharry has been instrumental in building out our profitable Treaty Property book. She was pivotal in the strategy and execution transitioning Everest from our old manual underwriting workflow process to the new paperless and automated system and underwriting platforms – both have been game changers for the Group. She chairs our Innovation Committee further driving technology to support the evolving needs of the business.
Outside of her day-to-day responsibilities, Sharry serves on the Board of Advisors for the Association of Professional Insurance Women. She was instrumental in establishing a mentorship program at Everest Re and has also mentored students at St. John’s University.
Sharry is a graduate of University of Delaware. She also has two daughters and lives in Somerset, NJ

Mr. Velotti is the Chief Executive Officer & CIO at Pillar Capital Management Limited (PCML). PCML manages the Juniperus Insurance Opportunity Fund (JIOF). JIOF is an open-ended Bermuda incorporated fund focused on investing in insurance related instruments. The strategy of the Fund is to invest in traditional (re)insurance instruments to create a portfolio with attractive risk-reward characteristics and low correlation with other asset classes. His responsibilities included the overall operations and profitability of the Fund, strategic business planning, risk evaluation, pricing, portfolio analysis and marketing.
Mr. Velotti has over 30 years of insurance and reinsurance experience including various senior management positions in the reinsurance industry. Steve’s career has progressed through multiple sectors of the (re)insurance market place including life insurance, primary commercial insurance, facultative reinsurance, treaty reinsurance, catastrophe bonds and other capital market areas such as weather derivatives. He has had successful experience in building profitable (re)insurance entities.
Prior to forming Pillar, he was a Senior Vice President at Ariel Reinsurance LTD from its founding in 2005 until January 2008. Prior to joining Ariel Re, he spent 7 years in the Property area at Zurich Re/Converium.
Mr. Velotti has an MBA from Columbia University’s School of Business (2002) and a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of New York at Albany (1989).
